This game is no were near the most expensive game in the world. I've spent possibly 40 pounds on it buying BFP, which makes it slightly more than a single standalone game(or alot less if you don't want to own the majority of cards). With this we get free expansions (which always hike up the cost of games).
Compared to a usual MMO were you HAVE to pay per month, usually around 9 pounds and this game is rediculously cheap for the replay factor. |

The expansion isn't necessarily free because we will have to buy boosters to get the cards (like with any other CCG). This cost could be limited somewhat if EA decides to give already registered users the cards that come with the modified play for free decks if those play for free decks are to include new cards from Renegade. Either way, you will be paying for the new cards in the set. The content and maps, however, ARE free. Still, this is like any other CCG AND RTS. This doesn't make me like BF any less. Still a huge fan....and still trying to get my old MTG buddies to join. A true test of value and something that I would assume would get more CCG players into the game is to somehow allow people to sell their cards for cash. In a physical game this is easy. It would be cool to see linked paypal accounts for the auction site. where people can sell cards for actual cash instead of BF points. I understand, however, EA's thought process here, "try to keep all the money circulating within EA" kind of like what stores do when you return something for store credit. My only argument for the Paypal plan is this: I would be less weary of development ceasing if I had the option to sell all my cards for a fraction of what I paid and get SOME money back, rather than no money back. Also, If for some reason I decide to stop playing, I could also sell all those cards to another player and get some money back that way. This would also open up the option for virtual online BF stores where you can buy individual cards and what not. That would be sick. Franchise the Battleforge virtual store ;) Last edited by dcinzona; 21.07.2009 at 18:15. |

Thats the point I'm trying to make. Why not allow players to buy actual cards in a secure way from other players within the auction house for cash?
Here's what I would love to ultimately see: An iPhone app that I could use to navigate a virtual store linking my BF account and the ability to buy boosters or individual cards, manipulate my decks, etc. That's a huge undertaking and I'm sure it wont be available, at least not any time soon, but it would be really really cool. Until then, maybe the ability to buy BF points and browse the auction house from the iPhone? I mean, it's all DB driven anyway. Last edited by dcinzona; 21.07.2009 at 18:40. |
